Welcome to Season 24-25 - September 2024

Updated: 2 days ago

Well, it’s that time of year again, cricket season is just around the corner and the smell of grass clippings and sunscreen are nearly upon us.

Season Sponsors 2024-25

This season is shaping up to be very promising for the mighty Murwillumbah Panthers. We will be very excited to welcome some new sponsors to the club this season, which the committe has been working hard on securing and will be announced very soon. You will also see them feature on our new playing uniforms and our updated sponsors page on the website, which should all be finalised well before Christmas. A big shout out to our current and recent sponsors who are fetaured below and on our sponsors page. The club could not exist without you, thank you.

Round One Dates

The Senior ranks will be taking the field for the first time this season on Saturday 12th October. Murwillumbah first grade will be away to Tintenbar at Kingsford Smith South for a One Dayer, while the rest of the senior draw will be released shortly. Keep an eye on our Facebook page and the PlayCricket app as the draws get released over the next week or 2. In seniors we will have 1 first grade side, 1 second grade side and 3 third grade sides! So healthy playing interest for season 2024/25 which is great. If you are keen to play and have not yet registered you can do so by following the "Register Here" links on this website.

Our junior age groups - U12’s to U16’s - will be taking the field for round 1 on Saturday the 19th October, with the full draw for all age groups to be released shortly on the PlayCricket app. It looks like we will have two U12s teams - one of those being an all girls team (awesome, go girls), one U14 team and one U16 team. Our grass roots programs - Junior Blasters, Master Blasters and U11's will start in November with exact dates to be confirmed, we will keep you posted.

Rep Cricket At Murwillumbah

On the rep scene we will be hosting the first round of interdistrict junior matches at our amazing facilities on Sunday the 13th of October for all age groups across the Far North Coast region. Teams will be Tweed, Ballina and Northern Rivers at the U12s, U14s and U16s levels. The format will be 100 ball cricket (like T20 and has been used in the UK for some time) which is aimed to be a fun day and the first of many more to come.

New Committee Members

Big thanks to Sonia Smith, Lynden Armitage, Will Mclean and Pete Comerford for joining our committee for the new season. We do need a couple more helpers around the club, as we are a not-for-profit volunteer driven organization more hands always make light work. The small jobs we have aren’t scary and there is support for you as well. Please reach out to president Adam on 0417 470 120 or email secretary Sonia Smith @secretary@murwillumbahcricket.com if you have any questions.

Training and Come & Try Day

Junior training is set to start shortly (our reigning premier U16s have already started training on Thursdays) and senior training is also under way on Thursdays. We have one last come and try day this coming Monday (30 Sept), so send all your friends and children down to roll their arm over and smash a few in the nets from 4pm.

That's all for now, stay tuned for more updates, feel free to reach out with any questions.
